Toaster oven redux Computing Unplugged Magazine - October 2008 Back in December, David wrote a somewhat brutal review about the GE Halogen toaster over. The thing burned him, and he was determined to burn it right back. What's interesting about this isn't that the boss had a grudge against an oven. What's interesting is the strange fascination this article seems inspire with readers the world over. We've gotten an almost never-ending stream of letters about this review and this oven. Since nothing beats a warm toasty bagel for breakfast (except orange danish), we thought we'd share with you a representative sampling of the letters (two more showed up today).
Don't be mockin' our articles Computing Unplugged Magazine - August 2007 Sometime life imitates art and it gives me the excuse to be insufferable and mock one of our readers. While I don't always get to mock readers, I often feel that the best way to respond to a mock is with one of my own.
A better mouse trap Computing Unplugged Magazine - September 2006 Here at ZATZ, we get all kinds of mail. Happy mail, sad mail, and mad mail. We get reader mail from all over the world, and this week Senior Editor James Booth got some mail from someone that isn't a reader; at least not a regular reader. Way back in November of 2004, we featured a review of the Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse, the industry's first laser mouse available to the retail consumer. Scott here apparently purchased a Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse and is rather displeased; he therefore has taken it upon himself to voice his displeasure to anyone that happens to like the mouse. Read on for Scott's feelings on the MX1000, and James' rather constructive reply.
Could BPL be a clear and present danger to national security? Computing Unplugged Magazine - August 2006 We continue our editorial coverage of the broadband over powerline (BPL) controversy with a letter from Fred Stevens, a retired US Army Signal Corps Lieutenant Colonel who's also an Amateur Radio operator. Fred took issue with some of our coverage of the BPL issue. Given his unique background, we asked him to expand upon his letter (he was quite annoyed with us). This is a worthy read. Fred has some very interesting perspectives. Because of some of the more controversial comments in the article, we're obliged to state that the opinions of the author are not necessarily that of Computing Unplugged Magazine, the editors, or ZATZ Publishing.
The ARRL on BPL Computing Unplugged Magazine - August 2006 We continue our editorial coverage of the broadband over powerline (BPL) controversy with a letter from Ed Hare, Laboratory Manager of the ARRL (American Radio Relay League). The ARRL has be the most vocal opponent we've seen to BPL and, in this article, we give their technical expert the opportunity to discuss the issue.
The broadband over powerline controversy heats up Computing Unplugged Magazine - July 2006 Wow! All I can say is "Wow"! We ran what seemed like a perfectly innocuous interview with an expert on what seemed like a perfectly innocuous topic: broadband over powerline (BPL). It seemed like the perfect no-brainer: more broadband, no extra wires, and high-speed Internet to countries with no other infrastructure. Apparently, not everyone agrees.

That old time religion PalmPower Magazine - September 2000 Back on July 10, our news team ran a one-paragraph news item about a site that can download adult stories to Palm devices. We got letters. So, last month in our Letters to the Editor column we ran those letters. Well, wouldn't you know it, we got more letters! Somehow, in a publication dedicated to technical information on Palm devices, we managed to spark a discussion on free speech, the Internet, morality, and much more. Although a morality discussion is quite far afield for PalmPower, we've decided to reprint those letters here for you to think about and enjoy.

The story of customer service at Palm Computing, Inc. PalmPower Magazine - August 1999 Last month, we ran a Letter to the Editor entitled "Will success spoil Palm Computing?"
